Angel's Pencil - still WIP

The Angel’s Pencil from the Larry Niven story “The Warriors”. Still WIP - I've modeled the crew ring and the drive section, but they’re still untextured and I need to work on the details.

In the story the ship is described as looking like a “mechanical pencil floating inside a platinum bracelet”, so those are the proportions I’m aiming for - even though it means the drive section seems a bit on the small side, for an interstellar ship. 

It describes the lander as a finned craft projecting from the pointed end of the axial section. If it looks a bit Thunderbirds-y - the story was written in 1968 so I'm aiming for a 1960s aesthetic.

The story specifies a crew of twelve and implies that living quarters are quite cramped - which means the habitation ring can’t be huge. And that in turn means I can’t male the lander too small in proportion to the ring, or the crew won’t be able to fit in!

Anyway. I recommend Niven’s stuff to anyone who hasn’t read it. .
